Never heard of anything like that before. Explain what it does and where it will go.
it goes between the cranckcase vent that goes to the inlet manifold, it sort off catches the oil fumes from the crankcase and vents and filters the fumes so its not getting to the manifold and getging burned off and also deposits the gunk on your throttle body and onto valves etc, relealess the crankcase pressure and the fumes lower the enron no, thats all i know, got to be better than all that gunk getting into the engine than not doing much about it, what you reckon.
yes sounds good in theory. Think youl be the first on here to do it. Dont forget before during and after pics, its the law.
Any thoughts of where you are going to put it Andy as there is not alot of room under the bonnet of the 1.9. Also watch your warranty more so if you intend to use Arnold Clark. Grassmere are a bit more friendly on modds as I have found out in the past.
Goodluck matey.
I had a recall done for something similar on my old vec B 1.8 - basically they put a small black box with some meshing inside it betweeh the crank breather and the camshaft cover. Certainly filled up with oil and crud which can only be a good thing...
me baby going for its first service very shortly got a few things to iron out and going to get some expert advice on best way to fit the can and yes photys to come with the rest i have to do, taking some tomorrow of my brake upgrade ive just finished today cant wait.
Reconnect the old system for your MOT and you'll be fine.
With that in place it should fail the emission test because the testers look for a certain amount of oil vapour in the exhaust gas.
Venting to the atmosphere is illegal, only older/classic cars can get away with it. Oil vapour is toxic and even with a filtered catch tank, it does eventually make its way to the underside of your car (which is great rust prevention) occasionally dripping in very very small quantities onto the road.
I was considering doing this too, supposed to be good for a few extra bhp as well as the other benefits. Mind if I ask where you bought yours & how much?
that particular can cost £27 + p+p from ebay, but this ones going back as ive seen an bought a toyo sports one again from ebay at £24 but difference is that this one got a removeable top which im going to do my own mod on it, basically im going to fit a baffle plate so it sort off seperates the inlet and outlet so the oil fumes have chance to seperate the dirty oil from the moving air, when it comes i will take photos off exactly what it is im doing to show a "how to" i just have to find a bit of ally plate to do it.
