Default not vectra but astra 1.7dti help please...

    long story short..

brother borrowed the astra estate to go to watford today to watch the footy...got there ok, heading back car looses power and engine cut's out, 10 mins later he managed to restart it and travel another 5 - 6 miles....called the AA and they come out and say it is poss the fuel pump or pump ecu faulty........towed to LFE services and then onto flat bed to get it home, have the AA breakdown repair warranty that cover's first £500.00 so hoping that i can get it booked into the dealer's monday and it doesnt cost more than the cover i have....

looking around the tinterweb there seem to be a few ecu's around for around £100.00 exchange, also found that the ecu can suffer from dry joint's, question is has anyone alse had this happen and if so can they help me in any way....

    thanks

Usual thing on these is the pump ECU or spill ECU as its known, located just under diesel pump. Cost from vauxhall about £650, but there are companys that can repair them, we deal with a company in kent called BBA REMAN. very good and they charge about £160 exchange.

Car with spanner indicates a fault. Oil can with spanner indicates a service. Or at least that's what I thought they did? Maybe Astras are different?

Is it the Izusu engine in it? i had a works van years ago that had a similar problem but for the life of me i cant remeber how they sorted it. it would run fine then i'd shut it off to nip out then within minutes it wouldn't start. I think it was something on the pump that had to be replaced but defo not a whole new pump.
