Default New rims on and a de-muck!

I got home today at a reasonable hour so set to work on the car.

Firstly though a good clean was in order. So up on the axle stands again and another attack of the snowfoam.

After this the car looked alot cleaner.

    Then on went the 18's.

The suspension still needs to settle due to being off the ground, after driving it this evening, the suspension has settled down and she looks really good.

    Drivability

It is very strange, when you first put 19's on after having 17's or 18's, they don't seem to make the ride any more harsh.

But after going back to an 18" wheel and tyre, it feels alot softer. Of course it still has the harder sports suspension but after 15 miles this evening, it is much much better on the ride. Not feeling every bump in the road, which for me doing high miles is worth everything.

The steering is a little lighter due to the 225 tyre over the 235 but all in all very happy.

Although these tyres are in the same group on tech 2 as 235 35 19", they are slightly bigger in diameter which according to my GPS, makes it 1mph closer to the cars speedo, before the car always read 3mph slower on GPS than the speedo.

So at a speedo reading of 50mph, the GPS read 47mph, now at 50mph the GPS reads 48mph.

I know many will say they don't look at good, but I like it now as it is a little more understated and not in your face.

What do you all think? Opinions welcome, good or bad.

I did the same thing this week and the ride is much nicer. and i just could not stop hitting kerbs with the 19s. so needed a tyre that came over the rim. i do think seeing the pics of yours has confirmed it for me and i think ill drop it a bit. looks good though mate

Well yeah, had to really! They are Astra Twintop versions which are all chrome, rather than the Vectra/Signum versions which are chrome with grey edges.

What time you coming on Sunday? PM sent with my address.

I always loved these wheels. Our boss had a top spec signum with these wheels and i always thought it set the car off perfectly!
