Default Replacing headlight, parking light, reg bulbs!!!

How hard can it be? Doing my head in now. Got a Vectra Sri (55 plate, new shape). My headlights are crap so need replacing, parking lights (front) have gone need replacing and 1 bulb is out on my back registration plate, needs replacing.

Tried myself to do the headlights but you cannot get a perfect fit because you either scrape all your arms or scratch the bulb, giving a crap result at night.

So went to Halfords today, got a pair of Xenon headlights but the man couldnt fit them, been told this loads of times I need to take the whole bumper off and pull the headlights out to fit them properly into the slots and doing it this way will not scratch the bulbs, therefore giving a perfect straight light at night. Is it hard? Ive bought the star shape allen screw driver key from Halfords too, but somethings telling me its not that easy. The small parking light bulbs are a pain in the arse to get out because you have to pull both the little clips at the same time which is vertually impossible, you cant fit 2 hands at once so hopefully with the bumper off it will work, anyone done it this way before?

As for the registration plate bulb, pull the clip you might say but the light that is out, the clip has snapped off, its another pain the backside trying to pull it out with a screwdriver, any ideas? Dont want to go to Vauxhall to get it done they want £50+ for the lot (not inc. bulbs) and independant garages want £35+.

Ive got all the right bulbs just need to do the hands on work now.

Im looking for your help haha

just changed the plate bulbs now withing 30 seconds...

Did the dipped beem and sidelights last night and although a pain to get to it can be done without stripping the car... well unless you have huge hands of course...

bulbs are easy enough no need to remove the bumper i done mine loads of times just remove the washer bottle neck pulls off and remove the airbox to get the other side

if your not confident with this im just by haydock park pop it down i'll sort it only take 10 mins only looking 1/2 hour with full bumper off jobby

Once removed from the bumper, you twist the bulb holder to remove it from the lamp fitting. Pulling on it will damage the clips as you've just found out.

headlights are a pain, but you dont need to remove the bumper, just the washer kneck, and unsecure the airbox and move it out the way. Sure you will scrape your hands to bits, but hey, cant be helped!
Never done the number plate bulbs.....

I changed my Side Lights, Interior lights, rear number plate lights and removed the front chrome V for de-chroming and re spraing today.

All in all it only took around 1.5 hours and I was certainly not rushing.

I tend to take the front bumper off to do the lights (or other things) as it also gives me a chance to inspect the front and to give it a good clean.

The first time you do it takes ages as its a learning curve but from then on its plain sailing.

I learnt how to do it from the how to's on this forum. Normaly I only take computers apart.
