    Default Times Are Hard

Well just been told today that im being made redundant as of today which isnt good but what makes it harder is that theres just no work out there!

Im in the Electrical trade and every company going at the moment is laying people off left right and centre so i really cant see me getting another job any time soon!

I thought the company i worked for was going to make it through this recession but obveiously not!

My question is if anyone knows of any electrical companies in Nottingham that are taking on it would be great if you could pass on their info to me!

What makes it harder is that im a forth year apprentice and should be out my time in 6 months but people would rather take on qualified electricians that apprentices! Times are so hard!

    Matt

    Bummer sorry to hear that.
So long as you've got your qualifications I wouldn't worry about not being out of your time.

When you say youv'e been made redundant as of today,do you mean that you have been told to day,and not given any notice,??? If you have not been given any notice and you have worked for your company for 2 years or more, and you are 18 or over you could be entitled to compensation..get back to me.

This is not the best sort of electrical work but when needs must its always helped out friends of mine, Have you thought about doing metering for companies such as siemens, might be worth doing until you can get another proper job, Give Rig Energy a call if you are interested, I know guys who have done plenty of this and the pay isnt bad, as they have been paid around £16 for every meter that they changed, bear in mind that each meter should only take 15 mins to change over, it can soon add up, Some of my mates have easily taken home over £1k per week, Electric meters are on a yearly rolling change over programe, I know that Siemens is in Nottingham as i've had to call them to check for references when we have had guys send in a CV..
