Default Your Advice Please - On Buying 2008 Vectra 1.8i

I am looking to buy a 2008 Vectra 1.8i over the next couple of weeks and would appreciate any advice/information that forum members can give me.

The Design or SRi trim were recommended but the majority of cars available appear to be Exclusive or Sri models. Any information and/or opinions on various options are welcome.

Apparently Coil Springs were an issue up until quite recently. Are they likely to be okay on a 2008 model? Are there any other possible known problems I should be aware of?

My current car is an S Reg 1999 Vectra 1.8i LS. I’ve had an ongoing intermittent fault where the car will occasionally lose power when I slow down at a roundabout or traffic lights. A scanner test was done and both the Crank Sensor and Camshaft Sensor have been replaced but the problem has never been totally cured. Please tell me there is no similar issue with latest model!

It is likely that I will by the car from a Vauxhall dealer or car supermarket.

    Smiths Motor Group, Peterborough
    Forest Gate, Corby
    W Grose Ltd, Northampton

If anyone has any experience – good or bad – of any of these suppliers, your feedback would be a great help.

    Thank you.

    All the best,
    Ade

A 2008 1.8 will be a good car, check cam belt history, and dont be fooled into paying silly money for a top of the range model, even the base car is good, but check your prices and shop around as prices vari buy a lot, I have a 1.8 and it does just what I want out of a car (for the price I paid) good luck ANT.

Now I need a turbo to keep up!
