Morning all,

A mate of mine is looking at getting a 1.9 150bhp Astra (couple of years old).

Most information he could ever need with regards the engine I can obviously find out from the wealth of knowledge on here. But can anyone recommend a similarly helpful Astra forum that he can take a look at? Failing that can anyone on here give me some pointers as to what he should look out for? In addition to this what spec should he be looking for? Unlike most of us on here he isn’t really into modding cars but does want it to look sporty, but at the same time he wants as many gadgets as possible. Is there something that combines the 2? Or would the suggestion be get an Elite (or what ever the equivalent is) and then bite the built and mod it?

As always all advice is much appreciated, and I do realise this isn’t an Astra forum, but a lot of people on here seem to have had them at some point.

Best to go for a design or elite model

I've got an Astra - mine is a 5door 1.9CDTi SRI XP..

Top car in my opinion, im made up with it so far. Had a couple of minor issues with leaking fuel tank/leaking windscreen but all is good at the moment.

Depending of what toys you like, I preferred the sporty looks so I went for an SRI - my Dad had a Design and thats a pretty good spec - although he doesnt have Sat Nav or Climate Control in his I think they were extras in my car as it was a ex-demo.

I'm a member on Astra Owners Network. Most seen pretty decent folk too, I found it a bit more mature than the Astra Owners Club.
