    Default DMF.....??

How do you know if you are having problems with the DMF. I have a read quite a few posts re this and would like to know what are the classic symtoms of the DMF failing. I have a 1.9 CDTi [150].
    Any advise welcome.

When you press the clutch down half way you may hear it go quiet - engine running. If you hear a change its your dmf thats making the noise.

If you hold the clutch pedal at biting point whilst in neutraln you will hear it rattle - thats the DMF on its way out.

Mine has been doing it for 3 years.

Will you let us know if it makes a big difference to the way the car drives.... Mines been rattling for a year now and over the past month gears are getting harder to select(especially when cold) and its much noisier at idle and at slow traffic speeds. Ive noticed the car isnt near as smooth to drive anymore.

DMF's are a failed technology.... Manufacturers seem to be peristing with them because they have realised it is an easy way to make money.

We cant blame Vauxhall/Opel though.... every manufacturer is using them now.
