advice needed

i am looking at doing the following mods soon and need some technical help. sadly when i tried local dealers and vaux techical i am getting fobbed off.

i Lurve the irmy steering wheel but its pricey so i am thinking of the vxr item. now i have the audio buttons as oposed to the new style wheel. will they work? also i assume i'd need a new airbag as well?

other mod is i fancy fitting the colour screen fto replace my cdr2005 one. is this possible? i have an aftremarket head unit fitted just now.

Lastly i was going to have the pre - cat removed from the exhaust before booking a re map. there is however debate as to whether or not the car even has a pre cat fitted any way of finding out?

Steering wheel - if you've got the six buttons and the VXr wheel has the two wheels, it aint gonna work I'm afraid. I looked into this when I saw the facelift SRi wheel and it's different connectors etc. Unless you can take out more of the wiring/connectors and replace them with the newer type - not even sure if it would work then.

Why not get the coloured spoke trims?
Do your buttons work with the head unit? Depending on make, you can get a control box for them
