    Default Total car day yesterday!

I had an interesting morning yesterday.

Firstly, I went to have the VXR brakes removed at my dealers, I was going to do it myself but could not find my torx set which was really annoying.

The original discs and pads which I had kept were past their best so a new standard 1.9 disc and pad set were fitted. I also had the rears checked out and the pads were shot, so as disc and pad set for the rear was fitted. The kits on Trade club are only just over the £50 mark. All the discs and pads were replaced front and rear.

Then I figured that as it was about 10,000 miles since the service, I'd have the oil and filter changed, so this was done with the Vauxhall super synth and the oil integrity sensor re-set with Tech 2.

Phone picture so not good whilst the work was being done. I also had two new drop links fitted under warranty as they both had a bit of play in them.

So after all this was done I went and picked this lot up!

Firstly, four new 7.5 x 18" Vauxhall 11 spokes. These are the Astra Twintops version which has an offset of ET37 rather than the Vectra's version of ET41. The reason for this is that for some reason, the Astra versions were on special offer at nearly 50% off retail price. Don't know why but the Vectra versions were'nt.

In Europe, they did fit ET37 18" wheels to the Vectra and Signum Cosmos so I reckon ET37 will be fine.

Then the tyres arrived, I went for the correct Vectra C/Signum fitment of 225 45 18". Avon ZZ3's were the brand chosen as I have really rated them over the past year on the 19's.

The 4th is in the boot!

So going to get the wheels and tyres fitted up tomorrow, then I'll get the 19's cleaned up and photo's taken for the for sale add.

Should have got the cooper ones in the same size, same rubber make up, just a different pattern, they are usually cheaper too

Why the astra versions out of interest? Do they stick out a bit further?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

mine were the Astra ones with offset of 37 - no fitment issues and a lot more common on ebay etc than the Vectra ones...

I only got the Astra versions as they were the ones on special offer, as you have mentioned they will stick out 4mm further but I very much doubt if you put yours and mine together you will notice a difference.

If they weren'ton offer I would have gone for the ET41 Vectra versions. Duncan has the Astra ET37 versions on his and you would not notice any difference.

A few reasons to be honest, I fancy a change as everyone of my two Vectra C's and my two Signums have had the snowflakes. My first Vectra C had the 11 spokes originally when I ordered it and liked them alot.

I am also hoping the 18's may offer a little more comfort.

235/40/18's as it happens - no fitment issues, a little wider and still cheaper than the 225/45's...

I am not very heavy on brakes. Although they are totally awsome, they are wasted on my car. It was a bit of an impulse buy at the time and they doo look good as well.

But as I do 30,000 miles a year, the cost of replacement for discs and pads it very expensive. £320 compared to £59.10 for the 1.9 set up.
