    Default Death of my Vectra

Announcing the demise of my 58 plate Vectra Exclusiv.

Registered 27th February this year, silver 1.9CDTi Estate with just over 18,000 on the clock. Used as a Private Hire Vehicle (minicab to you guv!). Rear ended by a Ford Ka - I was stationary, he was doing close to 40mph - a bad combination.

Car has had its problems in its short time with me. The infamous juddering which resulted in a new clutch, DMF, fuel injectors, fuel injector wiring, EGR valve, reprogramming of the engine management system and a complete set of new valves and valve seats. The irony is that the new valves etc seemed to do the trick, and it's not missed a beat in nearly 3,000 miles, until last Thursday anyway.

    YS58FYT - RIP.

Yes, they called this afternoon to tell me it was beyond repair.

Not a surprise - the damage is much worse than the photos show - it almost looks as if the impact has tried to separate the "estate" part from the rest of the car - buckled floor, creases in the roof. Not good.

I should hope it wasn't a cut and shut - it was supposedly brand new in February!

As for another Vec, not sure - had a lot of hassle with this one, and the local dealers leave a lot to be desired. Having said that, the hire car I have at the moment is a Vectra Design - part leather, DAB radio, climate control etc, and an automatic which is a bonus for a cab driver. Who knows, I might be tempted again, if the right one came along.....
