major dash problem

55reg vectra no speedo,rev counter, oilpressure guage and temp guage no indicators on dash but are working, dashlights work to dark to see if anything loose any ideas people

Could be a loose/dodgy abs plug or the CIM may be giving problems. The Cim is a module that sits just behind the steering wheel that controls those instruments.

disconect battery leave for 20mins then reconnect does a system reset like a computer. doesn't hurt to try as its free

Hi thanks for those tips will try the battery disconect in the morning will have a look behind steering coloumn suspect it may be that because the indicators are working but not on the dash ,it;s a shame as I had nothing to complain about this vectra had it for 3 years it;s on lpg so has saved me a fortune,still it is running so will have to be carefull to keep below speed limit

Went to main dealer this morning,they have got it working but say it needs a new dash assembly,with what they did this morning it will cost £275,they say the dash is a exchange item,sounds weird to me,I never like this exchange bit,they are nearly always scams,Citroen has one with there diesel engines there is a filter near the diesel tank when it gets clogged up it is a exchange unit no Citroen dealer keeps then on the shelf as they cost £500 to stock so it is a exchange unit coming to nowhere near £500 seems the old filters are cleaned using ultrasound or something.
I have booked it in for Wednesday as I am moving next Friday so need a car,I surpose I have to pay something back I have owned the vectra for 3 1/2 years and it has saved me £4000 in fuel bills as it is on LPG,so about time I gave something back

Hi Soulman not sure took them about 3/4 hr,was tempted to pay ?? for the repair and take a chance that it lasted more than a hour or two,but as I say moving next week so have to be mobile,will the new dash come with no mileage on it? if not how will I know if they have changed it,absolute pain in the butt,I have only just sorted the fuel guage problem,which had the gauge shutting down for a while then coming on again,found a dodgy connection at the LPG tank at least that did not cost me anything, I see you are in Essex so you may know Quest dealership they are at Braintree and Maldon,I am using Maldon.

If I remember correctly the repair exchanges are about £100 to trade. So with their time etc...£275 isnt disasterous. The other option you do have is grabbing a 2nd hand unit from ebay and going to a mileage correction company to change the mileage to the correct mileage for your car.

work for vx they probably just did the reset like i said would leave it and see if it does it again. would bet it doesn't
