    Default Vectra swap dilema

I'm after some other peoples opinions on a deal that i may go ahead with.

A lad i know is wanting to swap my vectra 1.9cdti sri and clio 172 for his Audi s3.

The audi is a 52 plate with full history, 70k miles, full leather recaros, xenons, climate control, 4x4 with 225bhp. now my vectra is a 54 plate on 96k miles, fsh, just been serviced about 400 miles ago, new coilovers and standard sri spec. the clio is a 172, stripped out with omp bucket seatand a few other goodies.

Now the clio and vectra are actually worth a little bit less than the audi and the clio never gets used as i'm struggling getting insurance for both cars as i wrote a car off about a year ago.

what would you lot do? i do actually love the vectra and the clio is going up in price daily as its a rare ph1 model but having one car would make more sense for me. I'm just worried about running costs on the audi.

I've got my brother doing some checks on audi to find out what they are worth trade etc. One thing i did think of is that if i did get the audi and didn't like it i could part ex it for a bmw 120d msport at my brothers work which is the car i wanted next anyway.

Providing the S3 is cosha then I say do it - the S3 (and the one you mention seems well spec'd) is a very nice car and a very good engine - if not the quickest in standard form, an APR or Revo map will sort it out very nicely indeed.

I would bite the bullet and go for it, the vectra value is only going to go down even quicker. Had an A3 a few years ago, wasn't an S3 but the 1.8t, they are lovely cars. JUST DO IT!! LOL

Yeah intresting and nice dilema to have hey. My friend has an S3 and its an awesome motor but i think I would rather have your two cars. You have a fast ecnomical car and a toy for the weekend but two lots of running costs.... Surely running 1 car would be cheaper than 2

Its the running of two cars which is the problem, i do have best of both car wise as the vectra is cheap to run, very comfy and still pretty fast with the remap. The clio is just raw its 170bhp in something that weighs less than a tonne now and has no electronic aids other than abs.

The s3 has big potential though and the interior looks amazing. It'd certainly need remapping straight away though as its not quick enough as standard.

Just think in a couple of years the Vec will be worth 2p and the S3 will still be worth a few quid however they are thirsty little motors but great fun!
