    Default High Mileage 1.9CDTi 150

hi all, I am looking to swap my pre facelift 1.8 SRI for the cdti 150 version, have seen a 56 plate at the local dealers for a good price but it has done 97k. albeit with full dealer service history approx every 6 month since new. are there any things I should look for on the car that can go wrong, have the front suspension knocks been ironed out on the facelifts for example?

    Any tips would be appreciated

    Chris

Knocks are the least of your worries mate with the 150 .

Things to look out for/check that they have been changed preferably:

    - Cambelt, tensioners and water pump (should have been done during service)
    - Swirl valves/inlet manifold (again you want to hope it's been replaced with a modified one)
    - DMF (dual mass flywheel) should know if this is on it's way out if the car shakes/rattles violently when idling.
    - EGR valve (replacement or cleaned)

    Hope this helps mate

Cheers mate, had seen stuff about the swirl valves, but will get them to check on the flywheel/clutch setup and EGR valve/timing belts. fortunately it got a fully stamped service book for a Vx dealer right through so they should have full service records.

Correct, the records should show if they have changed the inlet manifold or DMF etc...
Also while you're there check the engine and have a look at the swirl valves to make sure the bar is in place and the valves are not clogged up with oil and 'gunk'. If they are then the inlet manifold will want replacing shortly.

    Good luck

as ppl have said if the car has had the above listed items done then you
shouldnt have a problem but however i dont want to put you off but
    however-

i got a zafira b with the 1,9cdti 150 engine back in march this year and
had 114k on the clock, its a 1 company owner and has full history and
since i got it ive replaced,

    new gearbox,dual mass flywheel,clutch,egr valve,turbo

its now got 126k on the clock and running like a dream,i chose to buy
this zafira as it was fully loaded.

so as long as you check the car over for wots been replaced etc then
    im sure you be fine

Not the end of the world if you pick one up accidentally with a dmf issue tbh, the dmf on mines had been rattling for 3 years and tbh it go tomorrow but hey it has survived all this time.

I would say the chances of you picking one of without at least one of those faults would be fairly slim, but add injector loom problems to the list too.

If you go for a high milage one be prepared the previous owner may of had a box it, but at the same time it should of had all of its common faults ironed out.

If it's an ex lease car the dealer should be able to obtain a full history printout, with regards to what work has been done on the car. I bought my 2006 Elite Estate with 75,000 miles on the clock on the back of one of these as it showed every service, repair, tyre change from new and within the last 6 months had the inlet manifold, DMF and EGR replaced. I need to get the cambelt replaced shortly, and it's also due it's 80,000 service next week apart from a couple of minor niggles no other problems whatsoever
