    Default What a day!!!!

Day off today so i thought id service my car as its well over due a service and i need to replace the track rod arms grrrrrrrrrrrr.
jacked the car up slid underneth and undid the plastic sump guard only to find the car wont go up high enough to get the thing out the way finally managed to do that, 13mm socket to undo the sump plug only to find that the plug has been rounded off. great!!!! tried to hammer a socket over it but the thing wouldnt budge. vauxhall serviced this car last!!!!!. so i had to leave it.
then tried to change the diesel filter got if off the car ok but no way could i get the bl00dy top off!!!!! so had to leave that too!!
took the o/s wheel off to have a look at these track rod arms turned the steering to the n/s and ive not got the tools to take these arms off so had to leave that too !!!! put the wheel back on and let the car off the jack and caught my new alloy wheel against the bl00dy kerb gutted!!!! all in all a waste of a bleeding day !!!!

Jeez Chris, thats quite a tale mate.
Sod's law isnt it, you plan to have all the work done and then dont end up doing it, usually its the weather holding things up.

Are you taking the motor into the stealers now?

    Bye bye Vec B

Sounds like one of those days you have done loads but achieved nothing! I have at least 6 of those a week!

    Had similar experiences myself....
Try to service the Pug and found the sump plug needs a special tool from Peugeot. tried to change the oil filter but that needs either a long reach tool or the inlet manifold removed or the car up on ramps. Tried the plugs, but found i need a long reach tool + magnetic thing to retrieve them.

On the Vec I tried to change the wheels over to alloys but found the nuts had been over tightened!

Modern car's **** me right off, they're designed to force even the moderately talented DIY mechanic to give up and go to a dealership.
