    rolleyes Not another knocking thread....

Yes unfortunately this is however, i've been trying to find the source for ages now and it's really doing my nut .

I'll go through what I have done so far:

    - used sticky back velcro on almost ALL of the parcel shelf.
    - Wedged the rear rubber fins/blades (the ones that hold the parcel shelf down) to stop them receding into the boot liner.
    - wedged the rear seats to stop them rattling
    - taken the rear headrests out
    - taken the parcel shelf out
    - taken everything out of the boot
    - used sticky back velcro on both door pockets in the boot to stop any rattling.
    - rear anti roll bar bushes have been changed
    - rear swing arms have been changed

I am still getting the most annoying knocking/tapping when going over uneven ground. However, I thought I had this pinned to the parcel shelf and it hardly does it at all when I remove it but it is still there on the more 'fierce' bumps in the road.

Does anybody have any more ideas because I am fresh out and loosing my mind

    Thanks

Was there not a recall on some Vectra's for some spot welding to be done inside of the head liner towards the back.... or have I dreamt this..?

on my VEC b, I had a similar noise, took ages to find it, it was the ariel coax, when the noise starts again, get a passanger to push up on the roof lining just to see.

another knocking tapping that I had on the VEC b was the heat shield on the petrol tank not sure if it was the back box touching it but managed to stop it. the ariel coax was at low revs ,,the heat shield was at high revs, it is suprising how sound travels,, so you look in the wrong place.

As bizarre as it sounds, try putting some vaseline on the rubber height adjusters on the tailgate and where they meet on the body, also on the 'v' shaped catch on the tailgate and the lower one on the rear panel , then see what happens, it cured mine as it was having the same symptoms as yours.
