Angry ABS and ESP lights on???

Hi I was driving the other day (vectra C 1.9cdti sri) and noticed abs and esp lights both came on at the same time. They stayed on for the duration of the journey. I turned off the ignition and then staright back on, the lights had gone out but after varying times they would come on sometimes after 2mins of driving or sometimes after 10mins. This went on for a few days and now they are on all the time and don't go out. I have tested the brakes and the ABS is definately not working. Can anyone offer any advice regarding where to look for the fault or what it may be.

    Cheers.

Really you need the codes read but its probably a wheel abs sensor and/or a steering angle sensor.

i don't think that reader will help.

that reader is only good if you have a EML problem.

your best bet is an op-com or call the AA or RAC and get them to read the codes just give them a ring say some lights are on my car, and want them checked.

    hope this helps

I doubt it as that will only read engine codes.

The same thing happened on my car. The abs sensor is built into the front hubs and it will be this sensor that has failed. The sensor cannot see the wheel turning anymore so then throws up a fault code which brings on both the abs and esp lights together. The only answer is a new hub as the sensor is built into it, all one part I'm afraid. Vauxhall will sell you one for about £75 I think. The only problem you have is finding out which side it is that has failed so you need to get the fault codes read to confirm which side.
I fitted my own and took about 2 hrs. Hardest bit is separating the hub from the brake disc and brake caliper carrier.

    Hope this helps.

same thing happened to me last week mate, i needed a new passenger side hub as the abs sensor was showing as dead apparantly.
i got my part for £150 as mine is the later chassis code even thought its a preface lift.
i done the job with a mate and saved some cash, but still need to go to the garage to get the code removed as the light is still on so u may have to do the same matey.

Vauxhall sold me a nongenuine part as they seem to use them themselves to keep customer prices down, thats why mine was cheaper but I think you're right are differant hubs so maybe differant prices. My abs and eps lights went out when the new hub when in and I didn't have to get it tech2ed off. I actually connected the sensor before I took the old hub off just to check and it went off before I had even fitted the hub. Same hub for both sides so possibly if you bought a new hub and connected it to each side you could see which side was faulty.

It COULD be water in the wiring plugs on the front suspension struts for the wheel speed sensors. Worth checking before you go out and buy expensive parts that may be OK.
