My detail prep all ready for winter!

Well finally got around to doing the business last weekend as the weather was good. I didn't bother claying it as I'll wait until I get a DA polisher hopefully sometime early next year, then i'll give it the works. Desperatley need a polisher as after i'd finished, there were parts of me aching that i'd not even used, but very pleased with the results from a rather large pot of elbow grease!

I always keep on top of the bodywork condition; always using snowfoam before a wash etc so about 2 weeks ago i treated the paintwork with some Zymol Cleaner Wax. This removed some of the suface dirt from the paint and also, leaves a brilliant shine. Then topped up the paintwork with Megs Ultimate Quick Detailer a few times as it beads amazingly.

So last weekend it was 3 snowfoams, a 2 bucket wash, a coat of Megs NXT Tech Wax 2 and a coat of Megs #16 Mirror Glaze. Wheels were cleaned with Very Cherry wheel cleaner and also given a coat of the Megs Glaze. Before anyone comments, i've since washed it again and treated the tyres with Megs High Endurance Gloss and given it another coat of Megs Ultimate QD!

Needles to say i'm more than happy with the results and the water is beading and sheeting quite nicely. So here are the pics guys 'n gals. Enjoy!

With the zymol wax how long do you leave it on before you wipe it back off again? Last time i used it i wasnt really that happy with the finish but im sure it was just because i didnt leave it long enough

superb finish. I gave mine a wash & snowfoam Sunday evening (worked until 3 pm) and garaged every night. After 2 days up and down to work its showing the dirt already. Love black cars when they are polished and that one looks amazing.

Zymol is more of a polish, hence the 'cleaner' wax. little is more because if u use too much then its like a lubricator and is harder to 'work'. dry to a light haze so when u use a microfibre to take it off it all comes off with ease, doesn't smear which means its not dry enough or you've used too much (waist). Then you use a pure wax which gives such good beading as above. But use colinite for it to run off and be dry as a bone!!!

Knowing what im like i probably used way too much, and it did smear quite a bit.
Ah well thanks for the info, will give it another bash once this damn british weather sorts itself out!

I applied it to the whole car then buffed off starting with the first panel I applied the polish to.

A good tip on the bottle and it works, is once you've buffed it off, put some clean water in a spray bottle and spray a fine mist onto each panel again and buff off for an extra glossy shine.

Hope it's nice in the next couple of days as i'll give it another glaze coat!
