Default I need some support lol

    Hello all,

Car booked in for tints wednesday, im verry worried about the white band you get around the rear window. Ive spoke with the tinter and he said its unavoidable but he always tries his best and will give me some tips on how to prevent it that I will need to do for a few weeks after untill they 100% dry out.

He said Vauxhalls are better than other makes though.

Im only having the lightest tint available (subtle) does this mean that the white band wont show as much with it being light and not limo black ????

Hi Mark, I had my estate done about 8 weeks ago, I rang round for prices and also to find out about the dreaded DIY white band. The one I choose seemed to be the most confident in it being least noticeable as he said he heated the glass up first to help minimise it, but would not commit to it being free of any DIY evidence. I must say there is no noticeable band on mine (caused apparently by the dimples in the factory glass @ the dark edge) and I am more than happy with the result.

Yes just to add I had a near factory tint on mine, don't want to look like the local (not doing so well so he drives a VX) dealer.

lol Thanks for your comments guys.

Hes a mobile tinter, I spied through the window at him doing my neighbours 2006 accord tourer and he spent so long on it, he seemed to take real care and it looks fab. He also advertises carbon wrapping on his van and has the van bonnet carbon wrapped

Looking forward to it, hope its ok !! Im hoping with a light tint it will be ok.

Basically, if you look at your rear window it has a black opaque outlie that is faded into the glass area with a series of dots (I believe called dot matrix).

Its just to blend the window into the black frame to hide all the glass fitting, etc.

The dots obviously have wholes around them and hold air and prevent the tint film from sticking properly.....
