    my number plate flew of while i was driving on the m-way, i just wanted to know if the plod stops me tonight will i get a fine or penalty points?? going to get them done ASAP tommorw but need the car tonight they were held on with double sided tape..thought it was a good idea..

    no you shouldn't be fined,if stopped explain what's happened and tell them as soon as some where opens tomorrow you will be getting a new one,at most they could ask you to provide proof that you have fixed it

    £30 fine - no points. Or a VDRS to get a new one and get a MOT station to stamp that you have it.

    Or talk nice and hope they feel human this evening.

    A stroppy PC could of course also do you for having a unsafe vehicle especially in the event the number plate had picked up and struck another vehicle at speed. I assume it would have already been cracked perhaps to have broken away. ? All unlikely of course, but possible. Could always say I've no idea officer, it was secure enough last time I looked, so could well have been nicked by someone. I think its unlikey most police would take it further as long as you promised to get a replacement next day.

    DId you watch road wars where the guy in a NEW shiny red car dont know what it was think it was a volvo went to the zoo and had his number plate stolen by monkeys..That was funny..

    Back to topic no explain situation and theyl tell you to get it done asap.
