Default HELP!!! Private Registration Plate Advice

My folks have been very kind and bought me a private reg for Christmas. WR05 SAJ – Each character represents my full initials from first to last I’m known as Ross, well most of the time…

Any advice on how to space it, or not to space it? Also has any heard of people getting collared by the law?

    Cheers

speak to rich who got escorted to somwhere to get new ones put on.

They have the power to remove the plates which makes it a MOT Failure... then under that they can impound your car.

    Just keep them standard

You wont get stopped by the police too often if the spacings are a little dodgey. But I would recommend that you leave them street legal...especially in Manchester

Depends on your driving style when they see you!!

However it will fail the mot if the spacings are wrong at the time of the inspection

Keep the font standard that seems to be the biggest problem but I always have two sets just unscrew the modded ones and put on the legal for the mot same as my HIDs in other cars just disconnect the live and run normal headlights for mot saves a lot of hassle

I would leave as is to be honest... i need to sort mine as its spaced (just bought the car) but my private plate is going on this week so it not a problem, mine doesn't need spacing tho...

The missus ha D5 NNH for Donna, and she was gonna play with the spacing and screw covers etc. she's an ex cop and its just not worth the hassel...

Also to be honest mate, private plates are pretty much private... even spaced ones, gaps covered etc. Ask a stranger what it means and they'll have no idea so what the point in risking it, you already know what it stands for

was told by my local MOT station that if a car fails on dodgy plates then a marker is placed on the car to show police that they were dodgy at some point.
Then if you are caught with dodgy plates by the police they dont need to give you a warning they can fine you straight away.
