Default How can I tell if my car has a DPF?

    I have a 1.9cdti 120 8v 2005 on a 55 plate manual.
How can I find out if the car has a DPF. I remember reading somewhere that you might be able to tell from the VIN.
I've got the spanner light come up on the dash, but it should be at least another 15k to a service.

    Any ideas?

its a modern diesel like most manufacturers they fit them to reduce emissions on diesels- it will have one - and just to make you feel better - its going to have a dual mass flywheel as well

DPF on Vectra Estates and Autos, (and all Signums), fitted with 1.9 or 3.0 CDTI engine. All Insignia diesels have a DPF.

Thanks. I stand corrected. Maybe 3.0 CDTI's don't have a DPF. Or maybe just
    3.0 CDTI autos.

The spanner/fault light (spanner with car, not oil can) means that your car has developed a fault, and needs attention by someone who can read the codes from the diagnostic socket (under the ashtray).

The service light (spanner with oil can) means that your car needs a service. It may be that your service reminder hasn't been set correctly.

P.S. I don't think that your car has a DPF.

This engine and age of car won't have a DPF

When was the car last serviced?
Service is every 20K miles / 2 years or on indication (ECO Flex)
The car is very unlikely to be under warranty, so you can always reset it yourself, so long as you are aware of when the next service is
More than likely the indicator was not reset on last service

If it is an estate it will have it, the 1.9's have never had the DPF if they are in a Hatch or Saloon.

You can tell if it has one because every so often the regnenration light will come on telling you the DPF is cleaning itself - and does this by altering the timing of the fuel injection. But like I say if your car is not an estate it wont have it.

You'll be able to tell if its got a dpf by looking under the car at the exhaust. If there are small bore fuel pipes going to the exhaust then it has one!
