Pop the engine cover off to check that the manifold isn't covered in oil.

If it is chances are it will need a new inlet manifold which costs a fair few quid.

Excellent, dont forget the pics. Under the cover, you will also see a long bar with a few bends in it, connected to swirl pot things. Make sure this bar is connected and not fallen off and resting on top of he engine !!

Ive just had my inlet manifold replaced the parts came to around £390 & labour was about £250. The only other problems Ive had has been the DMF & EGR valve, the DMF cost me about £650 all in to fix and EGR I did myself by taking it off and cleaning it. How many miles has the car done?

£550 just for the manifold and parts....

....when on idle press the clutch in and out a few times and hold it down and bring up slowly...listen for rattling, this means the dual mass flywheel is screwed.

Also try to set off in 5th gear, if the car stalls then plently of tread left on the clutch, if it revs high or makes a clunking noise the clutch is also shot.

And just make sure it pulls nicely in all gears
