Default please help- something sounds very wrong.

just been driving along in my 1.9cdti slowing down for a junction & i heard a sort of 'pop' noise. the turbo then started making a loud whinning noise since & i've lost the turbo power you get at around 2000rpm. has anyone got any idea's what it could be ?. i can clearly hear the turbo spooling up & down but that's all, i can't see any split hoses. i've also just called the AA man cos i'm not to sure if i should drive it, 50 miles from home as well.

Are all of the boost pipes still on? Sounds like it may have blown one off or one of them has a split

I think the turbo is at the front of the engine on the cdti (I have a dti)

There will be a big pipe going from the turbo to the intercooler (next to the radiator) and then one coming from the other end of the intercooler up to the inlet manifold, sorry I can't be more precise

Best sit tight then mate, it sounds like you won't have tools to do the job anyway.
    Hope you get home safe.

Made it home last night, i've had a good look today with the undertray & bumper off & can't see any split hoses, however there is a large amount of fresh looking sutt around & below the turbo - i fear the turbo casing may be split somewhere. off to the stealers tomorrow if a can get it booked in.

Have you checked all the hoses are tight on, & not split in this area??
