    Default Front fog light problem

Bit of a strange one this. I have a facelift vectra exclusive that has front fog lights in the lower bumper. When I got the car I noticed that there was no switch to turn the front fog's on, only the rear.

So I presumed that the last owner had a faulty light switch and replaced it with the wrong one, I ordered a new switch with buttons for both front and rear fog's but the front switch doesn't do anything. All the wires seem to be there for the front fogs on the bumper.

Any one have an idea what's is going on here?

Possibly retrofitted by a previous owner, they might need tech2 to activate them

Well it is a bit strange that the wires are there and connected to the fog's, yet the switch had no function to turn them on.

The car has had a bit of a knock at the front at some point in it's life, so it is possible the bumper is not original. I just checked on the parkers web site and it tells me that the front fog's were standard on the design and not the exclusive.

So strange thing is the wiring must have been there all the time, but the switch is different. You could be right about the tech2 to activate then which is a pain.

you'll find that the loom in most cars is the same. mine is an sri and has loom for headlamp washers which were only on gsi's. but in order to get them to work. the car needs to be tech2'd

Don't want to upset you, but if the fogs aren't an original fit, then it is unlikely that they will be a simple tech 2 in job.

I retro fitted front fog lights to the loom plugs and fitted a new switch panel with the front fog switch...and nothing. (switch was approx £45 from Vx)

Went to Vauxhall to Tech 2 in, and they said that the circuit was incomplete and so could not be done.

I ended up doing my own via a relay controlled by the cigar lighter illumination wire, and then onto a separate switch...
this way it functioned as it should...
only when the side lights / headlights are switched on.

My Car is an Energy....sort of part club / exclusive and part LS / Design.
