Save your cash and stick with stock.
even when i have remap.
What engine have you got? The 1.9 CDTi120/150, 2.0T petrol, 3.0 V6 CDTi and VXR 255 and 280 all run the same intercooler from the factory.
Even the VXR's don't need an intercooler until you pass the 315/320bhp mark. So you don't really need to change it.
i have cdti 150,with eds remap from mpg.
Then you don't need it. The EDS re-map will give you no more than 185/190bhp, they never give the 200bhp that is claimed.
Torque will be around the 280/300lb/ft mark, again the quoted 330lb/ft has never been acheived.
However, this is no bad thing as the EDS mapped 1.9 CDTi drives wery well. It's avery good re-map. I had one 3 1/2 years ago, my was 179bhp and 289lb/ft, so quite a bit down on the claimed figures but it drove really well.
Regarding the intercooler, as your running the same standard intercooler as the VXR, you will not gain anymore.
But there is one cheap mod that you can do to help the whole cooling system, This applies only to the facelift cars.
I think this is a must on a re-mapped 1.9, if you look behind the top grill behind the chrome V, you will see the grill is actually blanked out, if you remove the bumper and cut this blanking section out, you will allow more air in which will cover the top half of the intercooler and water rad.
I even think the pre-facelift grill's are blanked off to a certain degree.
nice one, saved me some dosh, and will do that little mod, gutted as well not long had the bumper off when i did my hids.
