    Default VXR test drive

I popped into the VX dealer round from the store i'm working in to look at the VXR they have for sale.

    08 plate with 15k for £14,488 - great bargain!!!

Anyway i went for a blast up and down a dual carriageway and the power is immense - i was up at 80 and could feel the power it would have put out.

If i were to buy it i'd be paying £400 a month for the car, £200 for insurance and god knows how much on petrol............ a 5 mile run used up nearly 1/4 a tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've covered 600 miles for work in 9 days and only used 1 tank of diesel lol

If i could afford to run it i would buy it tomorrow but i'd be mad to use it for work lol

The engine's are extremely thirsty, When I got my Saab with the same engine it had 1/4 of a tank after about 3 miles and a good thrashing the display said 20 miles Refuel now! It was getting a good thrashing though, trying to compare it to the veccy VXR that we had before that night, it's now driven everywhere gently (well most of the time) .

We use these in the police (as I'm sure most of you know), on a 20 mile blues and twos shout followed by another 40 miles of "brisk" driving we used over quarter of a tank! These are so thirsty, but fun.

I get 330-350 miles out of a tank without going into the red zone.
Mixed m-way, dual carriageway and A-roads at a "reasonable" rate of progress.

Drive like a demon, and that can easily drop to 250miles.

I find the fuel not that bad, my old vec b gsi used 3/4 of a tank from plymouth to portsmouth with a heavy foot. The vxr did it in just over half a tank with heavy foot, im averaging 24/26 at the moment mostly local driving no motorways....motorways at 90 it will do 32-34mpg.
