    Default Duncan's PVS 2006 piccies and write-up.

Well, where do I start!!? What a fantabulous weekend!

Started on the Saturday with the drive up to Toddington to meet up with Mark & Cara (Mr & Mrs GSi3.2), Dean (Plasma), Dean (Deano25). No sooner had I got there and the doughnuts were out!! - and a cup of coffee at the services soon followed. Then it was off up the M1 towards Santa Pod.

Once there we got stuck in putting up the GSi's trailer tent and getting our camping area set-up. Soon cars were being jacked up for caliper painting (me), exhaust fitting (CDTi) and brake pad replacing (Graeme). The one common denominator in all of that was Mark - he pointed me in the right direction on a couple of things, was soon under CDTi's car doing exhausts and then onto Graeme's - short lived as they found out that the numpty at G's dealer had given him the wrong pads!

It was some site, three cars all jacked up being worked on in various ways, other people arriving and others cleaning their cars. Cara got stuck into doing the BBQ food with a few helping hands - it was such a great atmosphere. So an afternoon of activity then turned into an evening of chilling and having a laugh.

We woke up in the morning to find some knob had demolished GG's gazebo which was parked right next to his car! He left behind his rear number plate (and we knew it was a red Chevette) so a bunch of us headed off to see if we could track down said car and have a 'quiet word' and 'suggest' he coughed up some dough to replace the gazebo. Unfortunately we didn't find the car. Bearing in mind that the 'posse' included Drinky, Big Phil and Mark the Cabbby I think the guy would have probably given whatever we 'asked' him to!!

So, onto the club stand and the big boggy bit we had to deal with. Big, big thanks to Alex (AJA) and Neil (Spikey) for getting things going with the car positioning, and after a bit of thought and a few discussions, we had a layout sussed for the arriving cars - and it worked perfectly given the restriction that had been placed on us.

The day after that was just great. The atmosphere was just fantastic, the cars and the stand looked great - a huuuuuge credit to the club and a big to everyone who came and made it what it was.

I know I said my little bit at the BBQ, but I'd like to just say again - a huge, huge, huuuuge thank you to Big Phil for everything he did for the BBQ. I couldn't have stayed under that gazebo for the time he did. I was in deperate need for some shelter from the sun and I stood under that gazebo - it was hotter than in the sun!! I would have passed out if I had been on the BBQ! So, thanks again dude - and of course everyone else who helped Phil.

I'd also like to say a huuge, huge thank you to Mark and Cara as well. From what they both did on the Saturday with the BBQ, bringing enough food for the evening to feed an army, Mark getting stuck in (as always) lending a helping hand to several of us who were working on our cars that afternoon, Cara for working tirelessly sorting out the food for the BBQ - not to mention putting me up for the evening in their cracking trailer tent! ; to all their help on the Sunday where they both didn't stop. And especially for going above and beyond the call of a duty making at least two trips back to the camping area (which was a helluva trek - especially in that heat) to get the BBQ and later on a couple of other items.

Well done Louise (Mrs D) on winning the Members' Choice prize - thoroughly, thoroughly deserved! And many, many thanks for taking so much time to put together the 'information board' of the past year of the club - looked great!

Sorry I missed out on talking to some people, inevitable when people are coming and going from the stand - hopefully another time.

At the end of the day it was off to Billing with Graeme and GG to meet up with a bunch of VS people, some enthusiastic test driving of cars and then some pizza and a few beers! Great company GG and Graeme - thoroughly enjoyed it!

Right, I've waffled enough! , now to the piccies.......I've compressed these heavily to keep the size down - so apologies for any quality issues.

Cara and Dean get started on the GSi's trailer tent (and that was it at less than half size!)......

...and the others sort their tents out.

Drinky supervises Mrs D's cleaning. He'll try and tell you that he did get stuck in himself with the cleaning!

One or two of us then!

We thought the injuns might attack (well, the knobs in their Corsas etc.) so we set up a circle of wagons to define our perimeter! You can see how big the trailer tent became when all unpacked!

Cara getting stuck in with the cooking. Paul (Vectra 2.0T) helping out.

    Mr Shiney! (Nick)

Mrs D with a very large thing between her legs!

    Beeeeautiful sunset!

We may have been in the middle of nowhere - but with a laptop and 3G card we still had forum access!!

    The Motley Crew

Why else do you have two hands?! John (CDTi) being efficient with his drinking!

Big Phil, err, just being Big Phil!

5am rise for the Breakfast Club. Spikey and nephew on the bacon butties.

We thought Nutron may turn up - so we came prepared. There was no need though.........

...as he was manning his own stall the following day!! Must be why he couldn't stay long on the stand!!

Mrs D waiting to be judged on the Car of the show competition.

Her trophy from our club stand.

    Mr Brewer himself....

...and again talking to Mrs D.

How good does that stand look?!!!

How ferking quick was this thing!!!

I tested out the Signum for sleeping in for the first time at Billing - and it's brilliant!!

    Right, that's my lot!

    D
