Well, i haven't had the Signum long, and it hasn't taken long to develop its first fault
It started the other night when i was driving home from work, when all of a sudden i noticed a yellow glow from the clocks.
I looked down and saw a symbol had illuminated displaying a steering wheel with an exclamation mark next to it.
TBH, i wasn't sure at first what it meant until i got home, checked the handbook and found that it was showing a problem with the EHPS (Power steering).
When the light came on, i hadn't noticed anything different with the steering 'feel', there were no noises, or excessive dimming of headlights etc, from a worn PS Motor.
After looking through similar posts on here, i checked the fluid level (which is fine), checked the battery/alternator power (both fine and it has a new alternator anyway).
I decided to give it a run Sunday afternoon during daylight, so i could run the car without using the heater/headlights etc... to confirm whether it was a charge issue. The warning light came on 10 mins into the run.
On Monday, on my way to work, the light came on 20 mins into my journey, but was intermittent rather than just 'on'.
- it flickered a bit, and also seemed to go on and off depending on whether i was accellerating, braking or steering??.
The light now just comes on and stays on, everytime i drive it.
I took a trip to my local Vauxhall dealer this afternoon, and they kindly checked the ECU for me then and there, finding an error code relating to a wiring/connection issue.
Thats what the mechanic told me anyway, before announcing that this may be wrong, and i could end up having to have a whole new EHPS unit as the majority of electrical connections... are inside the unit!
Surely if it still works fine, isn't noisy etc..., why would it need replacing at no doubt, an extortionate cost?!
Anybody got any suggestions or had something similar happen, as im dreading taking it in next Friday
