    Default Heated Seats Help Please....

Looking at a complete leather retrim in a facelift SRi at the moment and need help with understanding what I need for heated seats.

I'm looking for heated front and rear seats...

What do I need, how much will it cost...

Classic Car Services have told me that they will fit all the heater pads as part of the leather refit. But I have to supply the pads....

    Questions I have are...

    1) Does the SRi have all the wiring set up for heated seats?
    2) Do I need to buy Vauxhall heated pads, or are there cheaper/better alternatives
    3) What other parts would I need to complete the heated seats job for front and rear seats
    4) Any ideas how much all the parts would cost for the SRi conversion.

As always, thank you for your help...

My one did, but yours is a full CANBUS model and it frankly is a tw@t to do. Matt has done his.

The pads are around £28 quid each and you need 8 of them. Then you might need looms depending if they are in place, switches and trims.

So in answer to your question:
    1) Every 3 months there is a variation, so you have to check.
    2) Ideally Vx ones as perfect match but upto you.
    3) Depends but along the lines of looms, switches and facias.
    4) Mine already had front heated seats, rear cost me £80 to do the lot.

Hope that helps mate!!! Matt is alot more knowledgeable on this.

In short, it will cost you about £380 for all the relevent bits, and this is just for the front.

I had a loom made from the X plug to make it work but to be honest they are not reliable and I WILL be taking the wiring out and having no heated seats.

The only saving grace for yours spoons is iff your car has the loom going down the sill of the car. you can establish this by un plugging the seat loom under the seat and seeing if there is more than the air bag loom there. Early facelift cars 'could' have the wiring but very doubtfull.

    Sounds like a nightmare.

Matt, how cold do your seats get and is it uncomfortable with no heated seats? - or is it OK....

It is cold for about the first 2 minutes, then you are OK. I have to admit I hated the thought of not having them but it was fine.

The reason I am now taking them out is because every now and then the management light comes on when you press the heated seat switch. So they are being taken out this Friday while I am away.

But I would not worry about it to be honest, get it done without and spend the cash your saving on other bits.

The alcantara option stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter so a different option for you there?

Invest in a remote start kit, that way you can have the heater warm up a few minutes before entering the car.
