    Default royal mail rant

A while ago I sold a set of irmy door pins to a member on here. He said that when the envelope arrived - recorded first class - it was damaged and the contents missing So he refused delivery - fair enough.

Now, I put in a claim for them and today I recieved the response. The jist of it is as follows: Thanks for sending them recorded, but they go with the normal post so things do get lost. The evidence of proof of value I provided was not enough to issue a refund so here are 6 first class stamps to cover your postage

So I am £20 down now as they employ idiots and do not state what evidence they require for a refund!

So unless you have the origional receipt and some sort of proof that what was in the package, all you get is the postage back. ******s.

If you posted them in a normal envolope they will have got jammed in the machine explaining the ripped envolope and missing contents. If the envelope is not flat is causes all sorts of problems and once the contents and envolope have seperated there is no way of knowing where they have come from. This happens a lot when people send money in envolopes. The lost contents get put in a sealed box in the manages office in the rare occasion someone claims them. They won't have been stolen as there are far too many cameras and you'd have to be a total tool to try and steal anything.

it may be worth ringing the mailcentre closest to where the final delivery address was and the one closest to you as they may still have them.

    Proof of payment :
Royal Mail accept virtually anything, from PayPal receipt, email, and so on

However, usually they offer only the stamps first
You then have to write and GET them!

When sending items Recorded delivery ALWAYS go by the maximum limit, in this case £30
The same for Special Delivery, up to the maximum limit

Equally, don't just complain about this, complain about each and every letter you send or receive
    I do
I keep receiving Recorded delivery items without having to sign for them

That's another excuse, typically as the boxes need to be filled in with the correct information
Before sending the form, keep a photocopy for yourself
I had a similar response once, replied back that the form has been completed and sent a photocopy of the photocopy
I have even had it once that they advised the sender and recipient were the same person, as such they could not accept the claim as the postal service was not intended for internal mail!

I had had a few issues, ive given up complaining now,

When i sent my wedding invites all 41 by 1st class, only 19 arrived. On speaking to RM i got advised "that we handle millions of letters each day, we loose less than 1%" etc.... by my reckoning thats over 50%...

I have sent & recieved items by ebay around 20-25% have been damaged so found using coruriers better some a little more money but as RM as no longer cheap/VFM its worth trying others.

But one thing i have noticed the post Office are heavily pushing special Delivery, is it because the loose so much mail that this is the only way they cant stop losing or the removal of it contents....

worth shopping around now unless its a an A5 letter...
