Converting my Vectra 3.2 to Lpg..

Firstly does anyone know any decent places to get it done from..Obviously there are cheaper places but dont know if i trust them or not.
Prices im getting including VAT are around 1600 pounds +..Some give courtesy car others dont but prices are all in the region.
My car obviously Drinks alot..Its a 05 plate with 67,000 so its worth around 4-5 grand..Thought about selling it and buying a lgp converted vec but there around 6-7k for a decent one and still the amount of money iv spent on this car its outragous..and i know nothing will go wrong for a long time to come,,just want better economy..
What MPG returns could i see?
And how long will it take to get my money back?
Basically Right now im doing 400miles a week and its costing around 130 pounds+ in petrol...(fill it up Twice)..
Has anyone converted their car and would they rate it. Thanks

Sorry I don't have a GSI or LPG but I looked into getting a LPG converted Vectra b GSi a while ago, I was informed that I would have to do around 15000 miles to pay for the conversion and I don't keep cars long so didn't see the point.

I don't think we'd get that sort of return from GSi to be honest.

You normally see about a 10-20% reduction in fuel economy with LPG, depending on engine and car. However, with LPG around 50 ppl and petrol at around 106ppl, you can obviously work out the cost saving and payback mileage, based on your car and duty cycle.

So it would save me around 70 pounds a week..That will take 24months to get my money back..Not worth it? and id have to drive a lpg about? (saying that the conversion is going to cost around 1700)

Your MPG will probably be less, LPG is just cheaper. I have just checked the prices and from what I can make out LPG is currently around 35-40% cheaper than petrol.

So with the cheapest feul, and IF it did the same feul economy ( which it won't) and you ran on LPG ALL the time (which you won't, most switch to petrol when you use a lot of trottle) you would save 40% per week. So 40% of £130 is £52. If you do that every week, it will take you 30 weeks (about 7 1/2 months) to get the money back.

Thats best case senario. Remember you won't run on it all the time, remember that you won't get the same economy and remember so actual savings will probably be a lot less than that. I know a LPG specialist and I could have got mine done for the parts cost (1.8) but another thing to thing about is that I could not get insurance if it were done (even by a proper garage) because of the greater risk of fire, and risk of explosion if it is on fire. (I'm 21 that might not be such a problem for you)

Finally rememberthe extra servicing costs once it is converted and try to think of the practicalities of filling it will LPG. At least where I am the only places I can find to get LPG are motorways and a few garages. Either way I would have to go at least 10 miles out my way to get LPG anyway.

Just think how long do you want to keep the car, because in reality I think it would take you about a year to just break even....

I wouldnt bother mate. I work for a lease company and we refuse to lease lpg cars now has the heads always worp. I think this is mainly due to them never being run on petrol though
