Default What a difference a service makes....

Hi guys, got the car serviced today and what a difference it doesn't sound like a tractor anymore It was only 15k through a 20k service schedule (it's last 20k let me tell ya). Also changed the oil to 10-40 as I don't think the old style dti likes the full Synthetic oil the guy in the parts place was giving me. Now the loudness is gone when startup (was driving me crazy) So it'll be 10k from now on.

Mines always been 10k, call me old school, but i couldn't bring myself to run the same oil for 20k, I even think 10k is quite long for the same oil.

I still have the services at the stealers every 20k, but also have an interim oil change at the 10 k mark in between, works out nice this way and I have a better than average FSH.

Your just right I thought 20k was too much that why I gave in at 15k.

    Vehicle : Focus

    Trim : Titanium

    Engine : 1.6 TDCI

    Year : 62

    Mileage : 9K

Vx service mine every yr and i do appro 11k a yr. So they change the oil and i also change the oil 6 months after so roughly every 5k the oil is changed.

I service my wifes Corsa V reg 1.2 16v and change that at every 5k too.

I believe its the heart off the engine and 5k i think is long enough for oil.

oil is ok for high mileage if its done with the engine nice and hot. High motorway mileage is ok for oil, its short trips that dont evaporate the fuel and water that contaminates oil that destroys it. Thats why vehicle makers specify 1 year or xx miles for oil changes.

I always change my 1.8 veccy once a year, and it only does about 8k, my corsa gets a change every 6 months as its a chain drive.

If the Corsa's the 1.3cdti be careful or even get the chain checked as they have a habit of snapping at around 80k ish.

This happened to my sister and the trusted garage we use actually said they have had a couple of these in, due to the tensioner/cam (not sure if that exactly as can't remember) goes and ends up snaping the chain

This was on a 04 reg. Not trying to scare you, just prevention is better than cure - think its dirty oil or something if I remember, so keep up the good servicing
