    Default EGR issues

A colleague at work has a Saab 95 with the 150bhp diesel engine in and asked me if I could sort his engine management light that was illuminating. It came up as an egr snag p0400 if I remember correctly so I duly removed, cleaned and replaced the valve and cleared the light. The following day the light came on again so it was back to my house at the weekend for investigating. Again it came up with egr fault, I removed the valve again and did 2 things additional than i did the first time it was removed. one was to lap in the valve to body using lapping paste which alleviated slight sticking when opening the valve and the other thing I did was by pure accident. When knocking out the solenoid plunger i lost the spring as it went twang and bounced around the garage floor never to be seen again. fortunately i had a box full of springs of all sizes. However the one I put back was clearly more stiffer than the one that came out. since putting it all back together and clearing the snag. The engine management light has not yet re-appeared

Yes you have to drill a 3mm hole in the black plastic solenoid body in order for you to insert a punch and knock the solenoid plunger assembly out. I took prints of the thread that showed it. If you want me to take pictures and send them I can.
