    Default Break dust

    Hey Guys N gals

I was wondering if the brake dust on my sri is going to subside with age , i'm going through tons of wonder wheels lol. i've known nothing like the amount of dusk that gets on my alloys after a very short amount of time . My cars 1 year old now and i'm clutching at straws in the hope of cleaner wheels over the passage of time

alternatively is there anything i can do to reduce the amount of brake dust ?

    cheers

My wheels got covered in brake dust and i have only had the car since last Friday!

Quite surprised how dirty they have got. Wouldn't want to fit those ani dust discs that sit behind the wheel as they look a bit silly to be honest.

a solution would be nice but i don't hold out much hope...

Be careful with the wonder wheels, somebody posted on here before that it can attack the surface of some wheels.

Cheers for the heads up Ian i'll bare that in mind , it does seem rather aggresive compared to other ones i've used but it does the job well . think i may look into an alternative rather than risk any damage .

Can I sugges that you do the following (I haven't done this on the Vec yet, but have on previous cars, especially with alloys that where a bithc to clean)

    Remove the wheel,
Give a through clean with Wonder wheels, inside and out.
when dry apply a couple of coats wheel wax or brake dust barrier
Leave to dry buff up then re-attach the wheel.

It won't stop the brake dust, but it will stop it eching into the wheel and makes cleaning a lot easier.

I thought the post about Wheels said Megs Wonder wheels was good as it did not attack the wheel but the chemicals used in commecial car washes were to be avoided. I'll do some digging.

I find that a good coat of wax helps to slow the build up of dust and makes cleaning them off real easy.
