Default How long do front tyres last?

Been looking at Vectra-C Estates to buy for my son - a couple of them rang warning bells because a pair of new tyres had been fitted, at mileages I didn't expect.

I know it depends on driver and traffic, but what mileage would be normal for a '05-'09 Vectra Estate 1.5CDTi 150 Design ?

I've tried searching the forum, found nothing, but maybe used the wrong keywords.

Difficult to answer! Depends on so many things, tyres, air pressures, road conditions and driver skill/ability/attitude to name a few.

Got 6k out of a set of nexan 3000's on the siggy! Have read some get 20k from a set of tyres. i am yet to do this myself.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

as Sean said - there are too many variables tyre make/quality - driver style (gears to slow or last minute brakes) loading of the vehicle - (single occupant or fully laden workhorse/ repmobile) driving locus (town = lots of starting and stopping wear / motorway = less comprehensive wear) tyre presures - regularly checked or only when funny noises of the rims rubbing the walls out - as an average maybe 10-14000 miles - but as above - some will get more other considerably less

i've just gone over 20k miles today still on original goodyear nct tyres although they need changing soon, car is just over 3 yrs old.

Think i got 22.5 k miles off my goodyear nct's on my last vec.

Also use the car for towing caravan so not bad..

If the tyres aren't swapped, then 15K miles on front and 40K miles on rear
If the tyres are swapped, then 10K miles per axle

This can increase with smaller engines and lower speeds
However since it is an estate I would go for the lower range on the tyres

Equally it can depend on the tyre of tyres fitted
Some tyres might last just 5K miles on the front, others could last up to 15K miles
After all you pay for what you get

Thanks guys - in one way that reassures me that the front tyre replacement at 16,000 miles is "normal" - I think our annual maintenance budget needs adjusting though!

got about 15k off a set of avons on my siggy... 18k off goodyears but the the 3.0 is much heavier on the front... both types of tyres will do 20k on the back easily...
