    Default oil leak from an unusual spot

    had a bit of misfortune today and smacked a kerb sidewards (long story) anyway after getting home and checking for damages i have noticed a oil leak which has happened as a result of the impact it was fresh and dripping oil also my steering has become a bit wonky if i hold the steering wheel straight it starts to turn right slowly does anyone know how to get this re alligned again...i have attached a couple of pics of the source of the oil leak..does anyone know what this part is its above the front left wheel arch on the inside....will be taking it down to a the garage tommorow....just wanted to know what sort of repair bills am looking at

    where is that bud i cant make out what angle that is

    the actual part of the leak is just under the battery tray on the left side of the engine bay

    With a 5 year old car small leaks can be expected
    Keep an eye on it over the next few weeks

    As for the alignment, most places can do this for about £20, but be aware it is front only

    Thought it was just me.... I've been staring at it for a bit now, and am no closer to decide where that is

    That's not one of the driveshafts coming out of the gearbox is it?

    i dont know what it is yet myself going into garage today afternoon but this leak happened from the car smacking the front passenger wheel into a high kerb at 50-60 by accident. the garage said something along the lines of gearbox and driveshafts aswel when when i told him the problems over the phone.....

    I agree, it looks like the nearside output drive shaft
    In general these do release oil as the car gets older, so keep an eye on it
    The main issue is if this becomes constant and you can actually draw oil with your hand or the oil starts to make its away long to the hub
    Also clean and dry the nearside wheel arch
    Watch for oil making its way along to the hub and spraying across the suspension; that would be the time to stop driving the car and get it booked in ASAP

    Either way, if and when it does go you are looking at a heavy repair bill

    just got back from the garage theyre saying its the front gearbox mount...am a litle bit confused wheter the mounts are oil filled or just rubber, the oil is dripping down and into all the arms and stuff.. sorry not to sure what all the parts are called.

    what sort of bill am i looking at?? if the worst happens
