    Eek 2.0DTI limp mode.. AGAIN!

    Hello,

I will try to make descent posts, but it won't be perfect English I guess.. So please don't shoot me for that

About a half year ago my car became a frustrating machine(like for a lot of people..) When I was doing about 120km/h on the highway. PLING!! The famous spanner light popped on the dash and the car felt like a Flinstone vechile, No More Power .

So, I cruised over the Internet and found alot of info. (EGR, Turbo, Vacuum pipes etc.) After buying a code reader (OP-COM) I popped the hood and found a vacuum pipe with a split (Me was very happy ). I fixed the pipe and cleaned out the EGR valve. (Did this about 3 months ago).

Yesterday.. When doing 120km/h on the highway.. Guess what? Limp mode. I hate this mode.. It has a top speed of 120km/h and I can't accelerate deccently. The only thing I can do is pull over stop and start the engine and then the spanner and limp mode is gone (for a few minuts)

Now today I plugged in the OP-COM interface and had the following error: P0400 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Feedback Signal Malfunction
    (F8) - Not present

Who can help me with this very annoying error?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi m8 i .am assuming that you have a 2.0 0r 2.2 dti lump then the po400 fault is refering to the egr valve , its probably the valve itself that is sticking , all you can do is remove the egr give it a good clean out with carburrettor cleaner and make sure the valve can operate , also why your there you might as well clean the boost sensor and its housing as well .
I do this every six months anyway as a a matter of course
    Driving vauxhall,s for 30 + years
    and still loving it

I will try that.. Where exactly can I find the boost sensor?
    I'll post a pics

The questionmark is the Vacuum pomp. In the upper left corner of the rectangle is the boost sensor or is this the mass airflow sensor?
Here is an overall picture, the things in the box I know

Dutch..the boost sensor is the blue coloured plug to the top left of the box in your pic.

Incidently.?Have you checked the boost /intercooler hose for splits ,looks as if its had some hammer, and its a common fault on this engine.

Follow my" How To" clean the egr even if it is'nt the main cause of your problem.

I have same problem,I buy new EGR valve and now it is working well.My -99 2.0 DTI vectra has over 500 000 kilometrs on tacho.EGR is leaking so there is not enough vacuum on the system -> car goes to the limp mode.

my car is the exact same. as soon as i hit 70mph it dies, my spanner light is constantly on though, ive replaced egr valve, vac pipes and it needed a new turbo, still got the same problem though, i also have to stop and restart the car then its fine until you hit 70mph again

Is your vacuum pump in order?Maybe better test it,it is easy.Mine pump produced 95 KPA.

Yes I got it fixed !

It is a way that is also recommended by the Autodata software if you have a code P0400 stored and your car is going in limp mode. It should work on following car models with an 2.0 or 2.2DTi engine with a PSG-16 Motor control unit.

    Astra-G 2003-2004
    Zafira-A 2003-2004
    Vectra-C 2002-2004
    Signum 2002-2004

The problem is caused by a broken position sensor in the EGR-valve. Its been suggested to cut the cable 4 (the Gray/Black one) from the EGR connector wich is connected to pin 16 of the motor control connector. When cut, you must isolate both ends.

I can only say, this helped me a lot. If you have the same problem, I can only suggest you try this. It is an ultra cheap solution. However, I also suggest that once a year or 2 years, you take the EGR valve out for a clean

    I hope this helps.

    Greetings.
