    Default connecting a gas cooker

Am I allowed to do this myself or do I have to have a qualified gas man to do it?

I thought they fitted them with some sort of dummy proof valve these days?

Depends if you have the bayonet valve fitting all ready in place mate,if you have its just a matter of connecting hose, but if the gas pipe is capped off and needs a bayonet valve fitting i would leave it to a plumber

Anything to do with gas fittings HAS to be done by a corgi registered person, you must obtaint a certifcate from them for the work done as well, even if its just plugging inthe gas connection. iF IT BLOWS UP AND ITS NOT BEEN DONE BY A QUALIFIED OERSON YOUR HOUSE INSURANCE WONT PAY UP....Sorry about the cap's

    CORGI
I thought that had replaced some time ago by Gas Safe

I have already heard some horror stories for gas fitters claiming to be CORGI registered, as that is what people still expect

I believe CORGI is now called Gas Safe, however I knew what they were referring to anyways so it didn't really matter.

If it had been the bayonet idiot proof connector I would have connected it myself however I would never attempt any gas work other than that because as Big Mac says, why risk the family, either from getting gased or getting blown up. Not worth it.

Any ideas what a Gas man would charge to fit a bayonet and hook up gas cooker?
