    Default No Cold Air

I have tonight turned my heating on to demist the windows, got too hot so intended to turn it down a tad, ****, no cold air!

The air con doesn't work either, i have checked all fuses, connections and coolant level with no obvious signs, any reasons or help would be much needed. Thanks

If you switch the ignition ON but do NOT start the engine then move the control knob on the left that directs the airflow to different areas of the car can you hear the (3) motors running? If not that means the internal vents are not moving to redirect the airflow. The motors are fused by F23 4a, F2 7.5a and F25 7.5a. If all are OK then it could be the control unit has left home.

If you get hot air thermostate is probably OK. How long has this fault been present? Cold air is brought in from outside the car how about a totaly blocked pollen filter or leaves above fan?

The air con does use the pollen filter, so I guess if it is that blocked then yes. Hope its ok mate.

Yes as mark said it would prevent all air coming in from outside.

When you checked the heater control motors did you also check the main temp control? If not, rotate the big rotary control in the centre of the two smaller ones and see if that motor is working as this would lock the air flow in whatever position it failed on, either hot or cold.

how do i tell if this has failed? i would say it isn't as my temp does not change 1 bit. Are they expensive to renew?

The motor (one of three) controlled by the middle rotary control on the heater panel governs how much hot water/cold air is allowed into the heater/air con system. If it has failed closed it will not allow cold air to enter. As previous, ign on but do not start engine, rotate control fully clockwise (into blue section), then rotate slowly fully anti-clockwise (into the red section), you should be able to hear the motor altering the internal settings. If no motor sound this COULD be your problem. Hope this helps.
