Default Taxi Drivers with Night Vision Goggles...?

Anyone here drive a white Vec-C prefacelift minicab? Were you driving along the M25 between the M4 and the A1 this evening? If so, how come you drove along for miles in the dark with just your sidelights on, until I got behind you and turned my dipped beam down to sidelights and back to dipped beam, to give you a hint? I know dipped beam on the Vec isn't bright enough, but surely you can't confuse it with sidelights.... or had you been ?

At least the vehicle had some lights on!
Equally, many vehicles are seen driven during the hours of darkness in light up areas with sidelights only
Police don't seem to bother, however put the dipped lights on with a failed lamp and they may stop you!

Personally, don't bother bringing such issues to another drivers attention
If they can't be bothered then that's their loss...
When a vehicle that can't see them smacks into them!

For me the worst lamp offenders are those that drive in wet, fog, snow, without any lamps on

    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations only requires corner markers (ie side lights) when driving under street lights.

Head lights will impact fuel economy by around 5% over the prescribed cycle.

Entirely your prerogative to think that way, but here's how I look at it: You're driving along in the middle lane of a busy motorway at night, the car in front of you only has sidelights on, or maybe no lights at all. A truck in the nearside lane wants to pull out into your lane, the truck driver glances in his offside mirror, doesn't see the car that doesn't have headlights on, the truck pulls out and collides with the side of the car, at 50-60mph. How do you avoid colliding with the spinning car in front of you....too many vehicles either side of you to be able to swerve around it....if by some miracle you can slam on your brakes quickly enough and hard enough to stop before you reach the car in front, you'll get hit up the rear by the vehicles (maybe an articulated lorry) behind you. OR, let's say the accident happens 300 yards ahead of you - you'll be stuck in a huge traffic jam for 2 hours while the fire service, police, ambulance service and Highways officers attend the scene.

If you're sharing part of a motorway with other vehicles, it's in your best interest for them not to have an accident.
