    Default Whats happening now?

Notice some times when I accelerate, the momentum stops suddenly almost like a hard judder, as if the engine was turned off, but within a nano second it drives away ok.
Then the symbol with the "spanner and car" comes on. This would stay on till I stop the car and switch every thing off. When re starting the car it disappears and seems to run fine till the next time! Any one any ideas what this is. I thought perhaps it could be the potentiometer for the throttle??? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Default Latest on my problem

Just this minute heard from my garage after trying to establish what the problem was, and its the high pressure fuel pump - again!!

The car is 4 years old last week and this will be its third fuel pump

Has any one else had this problem/run of bad luck? and is there an inherent problem with the pump on this motor, 2.2 petrol direct injection?

Do you thinks its worthwhile trying Vauxhall to contribute?

I would be obliged for any feed back guys.

Err, yeah - this problem was on Watchdog not so long back mate - its unfortunately very common with the 2.2 Direct engine in the Vauxhall range.

Can't hurt to try Vauxhall, especially as you've had so many.

Is your current faulty one not still under warranty..?

No unfortunatley, its 20 months old. Just hope that they have fitted the newer version of this pump?

E-mailed Vauxhall for their comments etc.

Default Update and help on my rights please.

Well just to keep you updated. Vauxhall have refused to offer any compensation for this third pump as its out of warranty.

I had to get it fixed so the garage fitted the pump as stated earlier, but they have fitted the old suspect/faulty design of pump. Even after I said that I wanted the newer design fitted.

What is my stance on this older version being fitted to my car? Have I the right to the new version being fitted? I don't want to pay £552 for a new one again in 14months (thats the average period before it goes again)

if you have said you wanted a new style pump and they have fitted an older type pump - what did they charge you for ?
if they have charged you for the old one and told you its the older type then all you can do is complain not of merchantable quality and that you DID at the time demand a new type of pump ...

but if there saying its the new type fitted and its clearly not then thats fraud - and i would report the matter to trading standards/police, vosa and anyone else who would listen....

They said [the head parts man] that he didn't know what pump he fitted and he would have thought that as it was only in their stock for a month, would have been the new updated version. After checking It was the old Semiens type and not the Continental pump that was the replacement pump.

So I will have to see what I can do about them replacing a duff design of a pump with the same desighn.

You would have thought that after Watchdog program, they would have binned all these old style pumps and made sure they fitted the newer version to save ant further hassle. especially me who has complained about the quality of the car from day one and I also stated that I did not want the old style pump fitted
