Default Pulling Out Of The Pod...

    Well,
Some of you will know that whilst at Pvs i got myself a K&N panel filter and fitted it there and then and fitted my tuning box back on, It was taken off while VX were servicing the Siggy.
All was well in the sunshine until i left for home, I got out of the gates and put my foot down a little and to my horror a great big cloud of greyish smoke was bellowing out of my car so i pulled over and turned the engine off and rubbed my head, Then Ian pulled up and asked if i was ok (thank you Ian) and i said i though i would be.
So started the engine again and all was well, I'm guessing the box was just setteling down...
But it's not made me to confident about these boxes and i've booked the siggy in for a remap, so maybe good coming from bad...

PS, May i also take this chance to say thank you all for a great day, i was not too sure about coming as i have never been to any think like Pvs before. You were all fantastic

    Long live Vectra-C

    It's Mustang time...

I've read in other posts about the boxes and their effect, seems to me that when you make changes such as the tuning box, air filter and the like, the ECU needs a little time to get used to the changes.

I suspect what happened is the ECU threw a little wobbly over the air filter change, and overfuelled the engine to compensate for all the extra air she was sucking in. This should sort itself out after a few miles as the ECU will adjust to the filter and tuning box that went back on.

I'll second that. It's one of my favourite cars on the site. I love black Siggys!

Sounds like over fuelling a cold engine to me. Probably really smelled of diesel, warm engines perform much better and can tolerate higher fuelling rates without unburnt hydro-carbons (diesel) billowing out the back as white smoke.
