Default Original VX Front Brake Pads - Arrow Pointing Up or Down?

I've changed the front brake pads on my Vectra a couple of times using the aftermarket patterns but this time I was lucky enough to find some of the original non-aftermarket pattern VX pads at a very good price. These are the ones the dealers knock out at £65 a throw so I was well pleased.

Anyway, went to fit them today and realised that the inboard pads are actually 'handed' ie they are unique to the LH and RH caliper. See the pic below...

As you can see there is an arrow on the back and if you look more closely there is a half moon shaped cutout in the shim material which corresponds to the curvature of the caliper piston. The arrow either ponts up or down depending which side of the car you fit each pad to.

My reaction was that the arrow was meant to represent the disk rotation and so it should point down but in in the end I put the old ones back on and decided to post this instead of guessing. One thing I don't want to end up with is squeeling brakes having found some of the top spec pads.

    Can anyone out there help?

Yes they would actually fit either side. They're identical apart from the integral shim on the back. They also both have the sensor slot! Anyway I think Benny is right, his answer makes sense.
