Default Clunking doing my head in!

Got a cluncking noise coming from front of car, it makes a rattling sound when going over bumpy ground, also when i brake i get a clunk noise.

my mechanic checked it over and also a mate who is head mechanic in vauxhall, had drop links changed but still same.....checked bush on end of wishbone but thats fine......there is a little play in steering rack but dont know if it would rattle or make cluncking noise. had all under car checked and used iron bar to check for play in anything but nothing visible.

my mechanic suggested could be suspension bushes, but need to drop subframe to get to them which is a big job, vauxhall mechanic said he had never heard of these going before.

    you guys goy any suggestions

Have you done your brake pads recently? Might sound daft but cheaper aftermarket pads can rattle quite badly in the caliper.

I would have said almost certainly drop-links but obviously you've eliminated that one!

Sounds like the spring bouncing in its seat to me mate.

My older 1.8 did it all the time, then there was a sound of metal releaseing itself: SPring had snapped away

Hmmm, ARB's or loose radiator mounts?

Seems a bit odd to say the least

    what are ARB's?

it a weird problem, the rattle and clunk can be felt around your feet in the passenger footwell, but as said there is nothing loose round there

Yep, want to know this myself, I get strange noise, like a sqeaking noise, like metal rubbing when I go over speed bumps, was told it could be radiator mounts or ARB's, anyone could shed a little light?

Try some silicon spray on the radiator mounts. Mine does this and I find a dab of spray helps no end. Should get around to replacing those mounts
