Default WJ King - Spread the cost of servicing!

    Greetings all

Got a letter yesterday from WJ King in relation to the purchase of my 08 Vectra in January.

    £21.99 per month;

    Servicing to manufacturers specification.
    Free tyre puncture repair.
    Engine flush and fuel treatment.
Free seasonal inspection and engine oil level check.
    Vehicle wash.

    £263.88 a year :!:

Anyone partaking in this kind of offer and or your thoughts on it

Is the service in advance, at any tme during the 12 months, or at the end of the 12 months?
What happens if your car needs two (or more) services per year (high mileage driver)?

I would ask for a price, excluding the engine flush and petrol treatment (pointless in a diesel)

The seasonal inspection is also pointless, the entire vehicle should be checked no matter when in the year the service is carried out

The free tyre repair is worth about £10 per tyre, if required
However in many cases the tyre can't be repaired!

    Given a service typically costs £150 plus VAT (£180), I wouldn't bother
However I typically have my car serviced every 9 months, so I would need two in one calendar year
if they said yes, then that would be £132 per service!

The price of the service plan will be based on annual servicing of 1 per year, cost would be higher for high mileage cars.

We do one similar for £19.99 a month but includes full AA cover as part of it.

    Way overpriced.
You could probably do it yourself for less than £100.
As far as free checks are concerned you should be doing that yourself on a weekly basis, therefore no point in paying for it.
Before you all say not everyone has the time, ability or resources to service their vehicles themselves this is only meant as a guide as to how expensive these schemes are.
