    Default INFO - required please vec 2.0T

    thinking about buying 1 and just wanting to know what you get i.e bhp spec (55)plate any common faults cambelt or chain thanks in advance jody

    It's the best engine to go for, as it's a good balance between power and economy, and reliability is very good. It's a Saab-developed engine, is chain-driven rather than belt-driven, and doesn't have an EGR valve (do a search on this website for EGR issues and you'll see how problematic they can be). BHP is 175, torque is 195-200 lb ft, and the engine is easilly remapped to 220BHP for a few hundred pounds.

    i have had two vecs with same engine its simply brilliant and bullet proof in my opinion best by far i would guess because its saabs engine, get one and you wont regrett!!!!

    have to agree with soulman.i was fortunate to have the 2.0t xp1,and what an engine it was

    well going to view one tomorrow so hopefully be owning it , i have a cdti 150 few weks ago and am missing it already do they have all the usual extras??

    if you buy it tomorrow, you will not regret it......i own one a 2004 and i love it....it does 50plus to the gallon, it will not let you down.......

    Its actually a GM lump that Saab played with. Its the 2.2 (same as mine) de stroked to give 2.0, better chain tensioner, turbo and a few other goodies bolted on. MPG is roughly on par with the 2.2 but better power and tuning potential.
