    Default Sat Nav CD

A bloke I know from the pub has just boght a 55 plate Vec C Elite and when he tries to use the sat nav syatem he gets a message telling him that the CD is not inserted or to insert a CD (sorry I don't know the exact wording!). There was no sat nav CD with the car so I assume he has to get one before he can use it, is that right? Where do these CD's go, is it into the stereo CD slot and does it have to be in all the time for the sat nav to work?

He's dropping his audio manual round tonight so that I can get the correct head unit model number from it - I told him I'd try and get one from ebay for him if possible.

    Hi mate

He'll need a map disc yes. You'll need it inserted initially for the system to plan the route but you can then take it out and use it as a cd player. If you stray off course though, you'll need the disc for it to recalculate the route so I just leave it in and use the multi changer for music discs.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for that. Does the Elite with sat nav have a CD slot on the head unit and a multi-changer as standard then?

No idea mate. I'm still learning it all myself, sure someone on here can answer that one for you.

Mine's not an Elite but does have sat nav and the changer is a 4 disc job in the stereo.

It depends if the radio is a NCDC (satnav) or a CD70..

the NCDC have a 4 cd changer and a slot for cd/navdisk where the CD70 have 2 slots one for navdisk and one for a cd

As it's a 55 reg Vectra, it should have the CD70. Features as said above by Kenp, as well as being able to play MP3's, providing you burn them yourself to a CD.
