Some early facelifts with non-V6 engines, and not 1.8 petrols, were fitted with traction control. After that, only V6-engined cars had TC, as part of their standard ESP option. As yours is a 55-plater it probably has got TC. Hence the symbol on the dash, which should appear briefly and then go out (at the same time as the ABS symbol) when you switch the ignition on.

i'm assuming standard wheel spin from standing start would activate tc and light up the dash, if so i'll give it a try tommorrow, as i explained in first post while driving last few weeks i have spun wheels a couple of times but was busy watching the road but both times it was in the dark but maybee i just missed it flashing on and off.

Cars built after 26th October 2005 were stripped of there traction control system. Only 2.0Turbo and all V6 models had TC as standard. Other models got TC as part of the optional ESP+ package.

You will have the plugs behind the switch blank but your switch won't work as your car is full canbus. All dash's have the same loom so your blue/green connector will be there but it won't do anything.

The traction control will let the wheels spin a little.

    A 1.9 CDTI SRI shouldn't have TC
However, if the optional extra ESP has been added then it will show on pre-engine start

All 1.9 CDTi's had traction control as standard up until 26th October 2005. As said above, cars built after this time did not, it was put on the options list. My first 1.9 had it and Spoon's SRi had it.
