Default Low end power is still not there!

After all the advice you guys have given me i have just cleaned the EGR valve. The solenoid was moving freely so did not need to sort that out.
I did the 3rd injector too and have also cleaned the boost sensor although i cant see the yellow sensor inside it although its clean.
After all this the car is still the same.
The inlet manifold definately looks new and was not clogged up when i checked it.
My brother in-law (VXR CDTI) said that his vectra (same engine) used to pull strong from alot lower than 2500 like mine does so there is defo something wrong.
Is there a way of testing if the boost is working properly?

Also, i seem to notice that the engine temp never goes above 80 on the dial and it takes a very long time to get there?
Could this be anything to do with it?

    What engine do you have?
Most VX diesels have poor "power" until 2000rpm
If your revs are less than 2000rpm then you will need to change down one gear if you want more "power"
The power band is typically 2300 to 3500rpm
However, diesels aren't about power, they are about torque
The power is there, its just that the gear ratios mean it takes much longer to accelerate

If you have come from driving petrols then you need to retrain yourself on how to drive for "power"

I have been driving for 18 yrs and have owned various petrol and diesel cars, have been brought up with a motoring background, so im quite familier with different driving styles needed for different cars.
The issue is that the car is not performing right in lower revs and i am trying to solve the issue. (test drove by a previous 1.9 cdti 150 owner)
If putting your foot down at 30mph in third gear and almost going backwards is correct then yes i need to learn to drive again
The manual states peak torque is between 2000-2750rpm.
I have previously owned a vectra b 2.2 sri dti and it would p**s all over this one till 3000rpm.

    Cheers.
Will check them over tomorrow after i have stripped the egr solenoid and fitted my K&N panel filter.
Have some Wynns EGR3 and Deisel injector cleaner on order which i hope will help clean a few internal parts.
I cant understand how after 3000revs the car flys, with no flat spots, hesitating or even a cloud of smoke.
If the turbo was packing up what would the symptoms be?

What's the mileage on the car? I have just removed the turbo from my car and found it to be full of carbon and not operating correctely, I will refit this weekend and check what performance difference it makes.

My friend who test drove the car for me (mechanic) reckons that the MAF is also suspect as the car is really flat, especially below 2000 rpm, trouble is they are about £100 so I want to be sure before buying a new one. Basically the vanes on my turbo were stuck in one position due to the carbon build up

Its just coming up to 60k and has done mostly motoway miles which is usually better for diesels.
Keep me posted as my dad is a retired mechanic so messing about with parts is no problem.

It was the Electrical Solenoid side of the EGR valve that was covered in corrosion after only Miles. A big Thank you to everyone who helped and special thanks to "Jon7278" for putting the How 2 together and "cdti 150 SRi54 est" for the handy PDF.

Only took me an hour after work tonight to strip it down clean it and put it back together.

Below is the "How 2" that I used and the links to the PDF doc.

Jon7278 if we ever meet I owe you a few drinks. Thanks.

In my appreciation of this site I'm now off to buy a vectra-c sticker for my window and print off some flyer's to put on other cars. If there was a donate button I'd probably donate to that too. Instead I'll give some money to charity for red nose day on Friday.

    Thanks again.

    Keith.

I just found another great How 2 on cleaning the solenoid side of the EGR valve which is next on my list of things to do. Just wanted to share it with you.

And a handy little printable PDF too!

Here are the BHP and torque curves for the 150 BHP 1.9; BHP is on the left and torque is on the right; for both graphs look at the grey (lower) curve, as the blue curve is for a www.superchips.co.uk remapped engine.
